Diaper safe rash cream

I decided to make a Cloth diaper safe rash cream .. I use it everyday to prevent rash as well .. Since using it, my LO hasnt had a rash at all... and I never had to strip my diapers using this.

Here's what you need

2 tablespoon of beewax
3 table spoon of coconut oil
2 table spoon of sesame oil
2 tablespoon shea butter
6 drops of Grapefruit seed extract
2 teaspoon of vitman E  (optional)
4 drops of essential oil (whatever want most popular is lavender or teatree oil)(optional)

 Grate the beeswax (2 tablespoon)

mix everything in a double boiler EXCEPT  the vit e and essential oil

once everything is melted pour in container then add vit e and Essential oil
mix let sit for 30 min to harden

All done

As you can tell I use the same stuff I used in my wipe solution ..

Grapefruit seed extra.... natural antiseptic. Antiviral and anti-fungal agent, Promote healing, and prevent yeast infection

Beeswax.. Used for harden, as well moisturizering, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-allergenic, and germicidal antioxidant

Shea butter... Moisturizer, Helps heal damaged skin, Helps restore skin's own elasticity

Sesame oil... Antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal

Coconut oil... Antibacterial

Vitman E... Antioxidant that protects and repairs your skin

Essential Oil.. Scent and other reasons depending on what you choose

I didn't add tree oil to this cause I use it in my wipes solution .. I used lavender EO cause I like the smell.

Hope this help .. Let me know if you make some and if it works for your LO

My first diaper stash ... And my stash now

I started cloth diapering oct 1, 2013

I started off with 4 bumgenius 4.0 and started building from there

From oct to the end of nov my stash consist of

6 bumgenius 4.0
6 freetimes
6 sunbaby pocket diapers
6 diapers I made
4 flip covers
4 g diapers
1 thirsty cover
10 flour stack towels
12 Green mountain diapers prefold

This was a good stash to start with but I found out pretty soon I hated stuffing pocket diapers and liked all in ones way better. Once I figure that out I decided to sell all but 2 of my pockets and all my g diapers so I can buy more all in one. This is what I sold

My new stash consist of

14 freetimes all in one
8 nicki bamboo all in one
2 bumgenius 4.0
1 Simplex 2.0
1 nicki pocket
1 grovia all in one

4 flip cover
2 blueberry cover all cover
1 rumparooz cover
1 thirsty cover
1 thirsty duo cover

12 green mountain diaper prefold ( made 3 into fitted)
10 gerber Birdseye prefold ( that I'm making into fitted)
3 fitted I made
I also have 8 bamboo/hemp inserts that I made

Here's a pic.... This is most of what I have right now

All I want now to complete my stash is 3 very absorbent fitted and I custom diaper but I'm not sure what I want for my custom yet. Once I get that I think I would have the perfect stash.

What do you have in your stash? What type of diaper do you like best?

Prefold to fitted with a regular sewing machine

Prefold to fitted
have about 20 prefold and I will say I use about 10 of them .. So i decided to make my other 10 into fitted that LO can use as night fitted since he's peeing through everything now.

I searched the internet and all I could find was tutorials on how to make prefold into fitted with a serger which I don't have yet (but plan to get one soon) then I found Arfy tut and it was perfert here's the link http://prefold2fitted.blogspot.com/2011/08/non-serged-prefitted-as-promised.html?m=0
I made a small adjustment cause I wanted the wings to be longer but her tutorial was exactly what I was looking for

This is what you need
 Prefold
Braided elastic
Thread
Scissor
Safety pin
Marker
Any diaper pattern( or you just free hand)
And a regular sewing machine

First thing I did was make the lines for where I need to cut for the wings I kind of freehand it but I did use the pattern to help with the curves

Then cut it just enough for the two part to come together and wings are flat like this

Then cut the front wing so you can attach it to the back wings to make them longer

Sew the middle part together then turn rt side out
Turn

Sew piece to the back wings

Sew casing for elastic and zig zag wet zone down

Zig zag wings close

Cut elastic .. I normal cut elastic the length of one of the side of the casing and then cut that in half

Tack elastic on the outside of each casing then thread through with a pin the tack again

All done ...  I normally use a snappi to keep it close .... What you think???
if you make one please post a link to the picture, I would love  to see how it comes out ...

If you have questions please asks

Reuseable cloth wipes

I posted about a cloth wipe solution so I figure I should post about cloth wipes too.

I normally use cheap baby rags that I brought from Marshall's which are 12 for 3.00 but I decided I wanted a few pretty ones .. I had some left over flannel and my LO out grew all his baby towels so I decided to pair the two up to make some cute wipes.

This is what you need

A baby towel ( any other terry fabric is to thick)
Some flannel ( I used a half a yard)
Thread
Scissors
Sewing machine

I cut my my flannel 8x8
And my towel 7.5x7.5 cause it stretches a lot

Place them on top of each other with good side facing each other .. It really doesn't matter with the terry fabric

Sew the sides and leave a small whole for turning

Turn right side out and top stitch

All done

Have you made any cloth wipes? How did you make it.

Cloth wipes solution to help prevent rash

So I've been using cloth diaper since oct when Kedar turn 3 months and was able to use one size(OS) diapers.... I just love it. I figure if I'm going to use cloth diapers I might as well use cloth wipes so I can throw everything in one pail.

I normally use regular cheap baby rags that I brought from Marshall for wipes. Then I researched online different solution. The main thing I wanted from my solution was making sure it was rash preventive.

Here's what I have in my solution

I use a 7oz peri bottle that I got from the hospital in it is

6oz of water
1 TBS of sesame oil .. ( Anti fungal)
1 TBS coconut oil ... ( Anti bacterial)
4 drops of tea tree oil  .. (Disinfective)
4 drops of grapefruit seed extract (Prevents yeast)

It works great and keep my little one butt clear

It cold need to make a sleep sack

I live in atl where the weather is nice most of the year. From November to March it normally between 60-40 degrees, which is not freezing but cold enough. At night it hard for me to sleep with the heat on so I just wrap up in my comforter. Since Kedar is only 3 months and I don't want to cover him with a big blanket, so I decided to make a sleep sack .. This go for about 20-50 dollars in stores. I was going to buy one at first but I felt I could make one for cheap with a cute design and as warm as I want it.

I went online and found a free pattern here http://www.bombshellbling.com/baby-sleep-sack-pattern/ ... I used her pattern but I didn't follow here tutorial cause I don't know how to sew a zip instead I added snaps at the shoulder side and bottom.. I got the top fabric at joann for 5 dollars and the inside fabric at Walmart for 2.50 .. I got a yard of both ..

Here the finish product ... What you think?
